After
nearly 5 weeks of tournament action it came down to a Titan / Eagle
finale.
The 2000 Tennessee Titans have been the
Cinderella story of this event. Coach Bill Baker pushes a
terrific no name defense to its fullest potential and the
McNair/George offense gives him enough points to win close games.
Howie
Fortel has had to push his 2004 Eagles to the limit. Without
much of a ground attack he has had to rely on ball control passing
and T.O. The game was an epic battle that ended with
Philly loosing by 2 points (28-26). Donovan McNabb fumbled
twice and Tennessee capitalized on both miscues.

2004 Phi Eagles 17, 2002 TB Bucs 10:
In a
rematch of Super Bowl XXXIX the Eagles reversed history with Howie
Fortel replacing Andy Reid behind the bench. Neither team got
on track offensively, but Philly's defense was more dominant holding
NE to a FG for most of the game. Donovan McNabb engineered just
enough offense to win this one and CB Sheldon Brown frustrated Tom
Brady's targets all day with 11 tackles, 2 deflections, 1 stuff and 1
sack. |

T.O.
scored two key TD's and caught 7 passes for over 150 yards as Philly
outlasted the Bucs who rallied late to make it interesting |

2004 Phi Eagles 31, 2004 Ind Colts 20:
The Eagles relied on Brian Wesbrook and
the ground game as they played "keep away" from the high powered
Colts offense. Peyton Manning turned the ball over 3 times (2
fumbles & 1 Int), while Donovan McNabb did his 1972 Bob Griese
imitation and threw only 8 passes the entire game ! Wesbrook
ran for 179 yards and chipped in with 2 TD's as the Eagles advanced
to the semi-finals in the elimination bracket. |

2002 TB Bucs 27, 2002 Oak Raiders 17:
This
opening round re-match gave the viewer everything he could have hoped
for. With just over a minute to go Tampa took the lead on a
Gramatica FG. Oakland attempted to drive down the field and tie
it, but Derrick Brooks intercepted Gannon and returned it for a TD to
put the icing on this cake as Tampa moves on to play Philly in the
Elimination bracket's semi-final game. |
